FocusX is a groundbreaking vision system that captures images which are both detailed and entirely in-focus. Detailed images taken with a regular camera are typically only partially in-focus. This drawback severely impacts productivity and efficiency across industries. Creating a detailed, entirely in-focus image by combining images from multiple cameras (expensive) or by continuously refocusing a single camera (slow) is no longer needed. FocusX does the trick in one shot at high speed, thereby saving costs and time in numerous applications.
FocusX augments a standard camera with a patent-pending optical system and a proprietary image processing algorithm. The optical system captures a slightly blurred image from the scene, which is then transformed into a sharp image by the algorithm. Since the blurred image is made in one shot and the algorithm requires little time to execute, FocusX can operate at the frame rate of the camera.
Up to 20X the depth of field of a diffraction-limited imaging system can be reached.
Diffraction-limited resolution is achievable. The system can even be configured to attain superresolution.
The core technology consists of non-moving, passive optical components in a compact unit.
Only one camera frame is required to generate an EDOF image. This allows capturing moving objects with large height differences.
